ARYA TOWFIGHI
Arya is a seasoned media and entertainment lawyer, litigator, and employment law specialist…
who currently is operating his own legal practice, Towfighi Law, APC. Prior to that, he served as EVP, General Counsel of Estrella Media, a Spanish-language television, radio, and digital broadcast company, for almost six years. He was part of the management team brought in to turn the company around post-bankruptcy and spearhead the ultimate sale of the company. In addition to advising management and overseeing the legal function, his cross-functional expertise allowed him to lead the human resources, business affairs, talent relations, and communications departments. Prior to that he spent more than thirteen years as in-house counsel at Spanish-language broadcast giant Univision Communications, serving as SVP, Associate General Counsel, with primary responsibility for litigation and oversight of human resources matters.
Arya currently represents media and entertainment companies, talent, and executives in his private practice, as he previously did when he began his legal career at large national law firms McDermott Will & Emery and Loeb & Loeb.
Based in Los Angeles, Arya is originally from the east coast, with his family roots in Boston and his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. He moved to the west coast to pursue his law degree at the Pepperdine School of Law. He remained in LA, raising his son in Manhattan Beach.
Arya is passionate about the work we do at The Samburu Project, having previously lived in Kenya, and with his son having participated in the organization’s Walk for Water fundraising efforts as a student in the South Bay.
