WATER IS HEALTH
Clean water means clean hands, clean dishes, and clean clothes. With clean water health centers grow, knowledge is spread, and rampant water-borne diseases like diarrhea and cholera are eliminated
SPLASH INTO SUMMER
Summer is officially off and running, and so is The Samburu Project! Join our US team in Kenya for the next 4 weeks as we visit new well communities, launch new programming, meet new faces and reconnect with old friends. Inspired to get involved? Learn about our #GIVE22 campaign!
A GROWING COMMUNITY
This May we celebrated mother’s around the world, from Samburu to California, who inspire our work each and every day. Mothers who no longer have to spend their days searching for water; who, are using this newfound time help their communities and families thrive. With access to clean water agricultural initiatives are now possible for the first time, and from these blooming gardens, whole communities continue to grow.
WALK FOR WATER
Each morning, women and children in Samburu wake up with the sun, grab their jerry cans, and begin a long walk in search of clean water. This seemingly mundane task keeps children out of school and women out of the workforce. The lack of clean water prevents beautiful Samburu communities from reaching there full potential. Each spring, The Samburu Project rallies supporters across the U.S. to step up and make a difference. From the beaches of California, to New York, Denver, San Francisco, and beyond, we walk so the women and children of Samburu won’t have to.
EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH CLEAN WATER
With access to clean water, women in TSP well communities now have time to develop income-generating businesses, become more informed about their human rights, and care for their children. With time, these inspiring women have created brick make businesses, started beading collaboratives, and turned a first time agricultural initiative into a highly successful shop. Hear from Mary Lekupai, Mama Musa, Cheif Joy, and more on how clean water has impacted their world, increased recognition of Samburu women’s skills and knowledge outside the scope of their traditional roles, and strengthened their voice both in their families and communities.
A NEW WAY TO LOOK AT SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT
Think of the thing that you love to do most.
surfing. biking. performing. creating. playing video games.
Now imagine if by doing it you could forever impact the lives of people across the world. #GIVE22 is a campaign born form a serendipitous connection that happened when a group of women gathered around a cheese board- which is ironically one of our favorite things to do. The idea is simple- to engage our support to take action in a way the inspires them!
You have the potential. We have the platform.
WATER IS LIFE
WHEN IT’S IN ABUNDANCE, WE GIVE LITTLE THOUGHT TO WATER.
In a growing number of countries, wars are already being fought over it. In fact, water is the starting point for all life.
Water is also the starting point for The Samburu Project. We bring water – clean, potable water – to a beautiful but parched part of the world, the Samburu region of northern Kenya. It’s a long process, and a lot of work for our Kenya team, but then, one day in the fall, the rig and crew from Nairobi arrive and it’s game on!
