Damaris is a Samburu-born community activist and role model to women and girls across the region. Her inspiring story dates way back to when she was 11 years old - a bright and driven student who became the only woman in her village to attend college and receive a diploma.

For women and girls around the world, access to safe water, proper hygiene, and improved sanitation plays a critical role in reproductive health and, as a result, in gender equality. In the remote region of Samburu, menstrual hygiene supplies are almost non-existent.
