MENSTRUAL HYGIENE 2025
Last year, The Samburu Project and PadMad Kenya hosted our 7th annual Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration in Archer’s Post, bringing together 750 students from 7 schools across the region. The event was more than just a day of education - it was a vibrant, youth-led celebration of empowerment and equality.
Each school prepared a special performance - ranging from powerful poems and original skits to traditional dances - all centered on the themes of menstrual health and gender equality. These creative presentations gave students the opportunity to express their voices, challenge stigma, and uplift one another in powerful and personal ways.
2025 also marked the launch of "Flow Team" clubs - student-led groups focused on menstrual health and reproductive education - in nine Samburu schools. These clubs give young girls a safe platform to learn, lead, and take pride in their periods - and give young boys a space to support and understand their female counterparts. Already, students are spreading awareness in their classrooms and communities.
The day was topped off with a memorable performance from Kenyan pop star Laiso Boy, who uses his music to advocate for equality! We were thrilled to see our efforts featured on Citizen TV Kenya. Thank you to everyone who made MHD 2025 a success!
